یوزف آلویس شومپِیتر (آلمانی: [ˈʃʊmpe:tɐ]; ۸ فوریه ۱۸۸۳ – ۸ ژانویه ۱۹۵۰)[۱] اقتصاددان و سیاسی دان اتریشی آمریکایی بود. او در ۱۹۱۹ مختصری به عنوان وزیر امور مالی اتریش کار کرد. او از تأثیرگذارترین اقتصاددانان قرن بیستم بود و لفظ «تخریب سازنده» را در علم اقتصاد باب کرد.[۲]
او دکترای خود را در دانشگاه وین، به سرپرستی اویگن بوم فن باورک نظریه‌پرداز سرمایهٔ اتریشی دریافت کرد.
